Tax Director
This role will play a pivotal part in managing the day-to-day operations of the tax function and will support senior leadership in the development and rollout of strategic structural initiatives.
Based in New York City, our firm is a global asset manager, and the tax group operates under the direction of the Chief Financial Officer. This team is responsible for managing all aspects of the organization’s tax profile, with a focus on maximizing tax efficiency.
Areas of responsibility span across entity structuring, regulatory compliance, strategic planning, financial reporting for tax, payroll-related tax issues, and various one-off projects.

Evaluate the tax consequences and implications of business operations that span multiple jurisdictions

Conduct thorough tax risk assessments related to corporate transactions and restructurings

Collaborate closely with internal stakeholders and senior leadership to address a wide range of tax-related issues

Lead efforts to integrate tax functions during mergers, acquisitions, and other strategic initiatives, including new entity structures

Develop and maintain detailed records supporting tax positions and interpretations of technical guidance

Liaise with external advisors—including law firms, tax consultants, fund administrators, and other third parties—to support ongoing tax functions

Supervise and mentor both internal team members and external consultants in executing day-to-day tax processes

Support audit readiness and interface with taxing authorities to manage and resolve tax audits and related matters

Provide guidance on global reporting requirements and respond to tax-related inquiries across jurisdictions

Oversee development of financial models to assess the tax implications of planning strategies or legal/regulatory changes

Contribute to high-impact projects that span across departments, supporting long-term strategic objectives
QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree; enhanced education beyond Bachelors preferred.

Over 10 years of professional experience, ideally including both public accounting and or public accounting + an in house position at a fund

Experience with operating partnerships, GAAP standards, SEC regulations, FIN48 highly desirable

Hands-on approach with a strong willingness to engage in detailed work from analysis through resolution

High-level proficiency in Microsoft Excel; experience with financial modeling or automating processes is advantageous

Strong skills in analysis, organization, and both written and verbal communication

Proven ability to mentor, coach, and develop junior team members
